Your therapist is trained and ready to listen to you no matter what you say. Your Alpha therapist is on your side.

Individual therapy provides you with a special time and place each week to talk to someone about things that are important to you, and to build a relationship with someone who only wants to help you. Individual therapy is intended to help you learn to explore and think about your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationships and help others get to know you as well.
Individual therapy is a place where you can take apart and look at the pieces of your life, and put them back together in a better way. In therapy, you can even discover missing pieces and find or create new ones that will make you more of the kind of person you’d like to be.

Guidelines for Successful Therapy

  1. Establish respect. Expect respect and give respect.
  2. Allow your therapist to get to know you and see things the way that you see them.
  3. Explore and work with easier issues first, before tackling the bigger issues.
  4. Work at a speed that’s comfortable for you—let your therapist know if you’re working too quickly or if you’re feeling uncomfortable.
  5. Don’t try to trick, or take advantage of, or manipulate your therapist.
  6. Be honest about your feelings, and tell your therapist how you’re feeling.
  7. Tell your therapist if you’re confused about the things that she or he is saying.
  8. Work on real issues—talk about things that really have meaning for you.
  9. Don’t be afraid to go to difficult emotional places, and ask for support if you need it.
  10. Remove your armor, come out from behind your shield, and take a chance.
